Does anyone know of a manufacturer in the UK who can customise/make foam inserts for Peli Type cases? I've had the Pick & Pluck stuff and after some time it gives up the ghost so now we're looking for someone who makes custom inserts.

I've had good luck cutting my own case foam by soaking the foam in water, ring it out then freezing it. The little bit of water left in the foam makes it much easier to cut cleanly. After you've finished, leave it in the sun for a day to dry and your ready to go.

It's also a great excuse to finally eat all of the frozen food you'll have to get out of your way! :)

Otherwise there is a company in Anaheim, CA that can do custom foam and ship it to your location, http://www.caseclub.com/foam_custom.htm

what do you use to cut it with?

If you can find one, an old electric steak knife works great, otherwise I just use one of the disposable utility knives with the long snap-off blades. Make sure it's new and sharp and you can extend the blade out far enough to make a clean cut through most depths. The small size of the blade makes it nice for cutting small shapes.

Thanks Jarred, I picked up the technique somewhere on the internet when I was making cases for my Aaton a couple of years ago... it works great, just make sure you dry out the foam before putting it in the case.

post pics of the case without the camera in it if you can....i wanna see how clean the cuts are....i build poker tables, and when fashioning the rail if i make cuts with a razor i have to be really careful as it can end up looking like crap (cuts aren't smooth enough) thanks

dvx & hvx are same size, right?

i have a dvx and the Pelican 1550 works great - i think its carry-on legit for airlines too...
