Custom DOF Adaptor Concept

I am currently constructing my home made DOF adapter for my 37mm Panasonic Gs-150 3CCD camcorder. I currently am waiting for the other hood lens and the extension tube to come in the mail within a few days. Let me know of you have any recommendations for ground glass or any insight on my concept. I only have the telephoto lens and the lens hood attached so far. I'm calling this project "The Poor Man's" consumer dof adaptor. I don't think it's fair to pay around 800 for the adaptor alone. I've read atleast 3 different homemade DOF adaptor tutorials but they involve too mcuh construction and wiring.

well i'm waiting for the other lens hood and my Sigma 28-80mm f/3.5-4.5 Lens
