I have been shooting alot of test footage alongside of a friend of mine in preparation for a short we doing. I am using an hvx/sgpro/canon lens combo, my friend is using a dvx/sgpro/nikon lens combo. I edit in final cut, he edits in vegas. We were comparing stills last night and our footage looks similar in contrast pre CC'd but in post he is able to achieve a very high contrast rich looking image by using the CURVES feature in vegas. We both do a final render in MB but his prior curves adjustment give a very heavily contrasted image with crushed blacks before going into MB. I am looking to achieve similar post workflow, but have yet to find curves in FCP and everything else degrades the image too heavily and MB isnt really cutting it in terms of adjustment prior to look. What is the equivlent to a CURVES adjustment. I noticed the short "ILLEAGAL" was shots hvx/redrock/nikon and the look is very similar to my friends, however the CC was done in FCP with heavy mention of CURVES adjustment. Can anyone shed some light on this for me - Sorry it's long.
