current long form options

I have a maximum of $10,000 budget (target is 7-8K). I want to shoot 1080p on the HVX. I'm looking for the current options for long form recording on the HVX, I know of the CinePorter (ideal, but might not be out in time), the firestore (hear it doesn't record natively, but compresses the footage), a laptop solution, and finally p2 cards. Am I missing anything, will anything else be out within a month or so?

This is for a feature length doc. For the interviews I can do a direct to mac (pref) or swap p2 cards. However the other half of the I will not be able to be around a laptop of capture/offload to for several hours. So I need a highly mobile solution with the longest recording time.

Should I find some lamps to rub, or do you have any advice?

The FireStore records the data exactly as it would be written to the cards. The FireStore doesn't do any "recompression" or anything -- the firewire stream is bit-for-bit identical to what would be written on the P2 cards.

i guess i was smoking something. i always though it did some sort of HDV thing to the video....

so it's no different than the P2 cards? will there be any advantage to the cineporter then?
