When I'm on a shoot, I take along my laptop and wireless and go surfing to kill the time between shots etc.


How do those of you who work on shoots kill your down time?

Just curious.
 
On most of the stuff I work on, there isn't any down time. It's usually a two-person crew and we're almost always behind schedule. If I had the time, I imagine I'd spend it much the same as you do, though.
 
Write, read, draw. I hate being bored, so I have to have something to pass the time. Sometimes I'll take my gameboy (though I'd never play it when people were around :)) or I'll grab my laptop and just fiddle.

I'm a heavy reader, though directing I never get much down time, thats usually the time im frantically thinking of how to block the elephant in the shot...

Hey pookie is it ok to PM you in a few days, using a new steadycam bloke and a new rig, just wanted to check out if he's got the right gear /what i need.
 
Man, I saw a thread started by pookie titled "Curious" and I was like "Ok, THIS is going to be cool". Frankly, I'm let down :embarasse

Back in the day when we were being 'shot' (music vids) I would walk around and poke my nose into the DPs, light guys, etc business: "Wow, that's cool, what's that?". Mostly doing recording stuff now (music only) for video work in the fall/winter this year and there is no down time. Now I'm annoyed by people coming up to me and saying "Wow, that's cool, what's that?".

I'd have a hard enough time staying stood up on a surf board but running a laptop at the same time...Whew! Pookie, you are truly a multitalented kind of human!
 
I pass the time by contemplating ways to take over the world.
