Curb your enthusiasm, camera used?

Not sure... but format is digi-beta according to this:
http://www.dga.org/news/v28_2/feat_unscripted.php3

Two handheld cameras are used. "With an unscripted show, that's a necessity," Weide believes. "Because you never know what may happen, you have to be able to catch the action as well as any important reaction as you may not get a second chance. So much of the comedy comes from Larry's reaction to the situation that I make certain no matter what else is happening, Larry is always covered. We shoot Digi-Beta, but the edited master is run through a process to make it look like film."

is it just me, or does "curb" look nothing like film? it's always struck me as almost consumer grade video.

but i've only watched the first season mostly.

I don't think it's supposed to look like film. Great show, I only started watching a few weeks ago. Fraking hilarious.

Yeah -- I've never thought of it as filmlike in any way. I was surprised to read that quote.

Wait, Curb Your Enthusiasm isn't scripted? That makes very little sense.

Well, I mean, most of it makes sense, but I guess they do it in a Christopher Guest style.

It just seems like a lot of the jokes would be scripted; the stories are obviously formulated in advance, and it flows together well...

It appears I've been underestimating Larry David....

Yeah i watched the behind the scenes thing...and it says he makes a rough outline of what he wants to happen...and the actors just go with it. The results are pretty damn great though....Larry is definately a comic god. Its Seinfeld on an R-rated level.
