CS6: workflor between PR and AE

Hello

I was wondering which is the most reasonable way to work between Premiere and AE.
Let's say I have some old footage in Mpg2 that I am editing in Premiere. I have some video and audio transitions already applied. I then export it for some final CC and simple effects in AE. Is it ok to export/import the whole video (many minutes) into AE ? If not how can I split it reasonably in PR ?
Since I have already video transitions I find also some problem. I tried some motion stabilization in AE which works very well overall but it doesn't do when processing the video transitions (which are a blend between frames from 2 separate clips). Of course the SW doesn't understand it very well. This makes me think I should stabilize all the single clips into AE and then edit again in PR (which I actually used to create those clips).
Hope I managed to express somehow my problems. It seems I would like to do certain things on PR and others on AE but this would require bouncing back and forth all clips between the 2 SW. Is this reasonable ? Should I keep importing/exporting back and forth in e.g. mpg4 or better in TIFF sequences ?
Best would be to be able to apply AE effect on the single clips directly from within PR so that AE effects are applied before PR would do e.g. the video transitions. Is it possible ?
THX for the help

If a clip has transitions, duplicate clip and superimpose, extend it left and right over the transition. Then send it to AE.
This way you will have handles for the transition in Pro.
For export from AE I usually use lossless avi with Lagarith or Cineform.

Hi Ann, thx for reply. I think I don't get it all what you suggested.
Let's say I have 20min footage in PR, which formed by various scenes which are connected via transitions (one transition between every scene).
I have one long sequence in PR which I want to work on in AE. I would like to though to be able to apply AE effects to the singles scenes (although they are already combined in a long sequence with transitions). What you suggest seems to work for a single scene. Hope I am clear enough.
thx

Yes my first explanation was for one clip
You can however select all the clip and send it to AE in one go.
Transitions are replaced by opacity keyframes.
You can also import a PPro sequence in AE.
