CS6 on Macbook Pro

I am new to Mac.
I have a MacBook Pro and am editing with cs6.
I noticed the software does not fully 'fill' the screen. I still see the apps at the bottom and available space around the software on the top and bottom. I have tried the plus button to maximize, but the window doesn't get any bigger. Any solutions?
 
Once you've hidden the dock, manually move the app window edges to fill the screen. If you're on earlier than Lion you'll have to move it to top left and them resize using the bottom right. Thankfully from Lion onwards you can resize from all sides.
