cs5 -Best Codec for 5d files?

I have a great system that can handle a lot but sometimes I have jittery playback on export or weird streaking and artifacts after correcting and adding effects and so forth.

My system is an overcloced i7-950 at 3.8 and 12 gb of 1600 ram and a 470 nvidia card. With 3 disc - one for programs, one for scratch and one for saved files - all 1tb. Could someone please tell me a good codec to use for 5d files when I bring them into after effects and what to export and move in between premiere and after effects? Thanks in advance.

Or if someone could explain their workflow that would be great as well.

5D files are very CPU intensive, and this is magnified by adding effects in AE. I built myself a hackintosh for the sole purpose of transcoding to Prores...if your workflow is purely Windows, I think Cineform is a popular choice. You can also try high quality .wmv's or AVC-Intra.

Do straight cuts in Premiere and then import the Premiere project into AE. Rendering prior to importing is degrading your IQ and causing other problems.

If your card is not listed with Adobe, perform the hack and performance will increase.

Want the best compressed video file for final output? Render a QT Animation at 100% and then use Sorenson Squeeze.

Thanks Jordan. I will try it.

Do you mind me asking if you use dynamic link, switch to after effects to add or do you output and then bring into after effects?

I have several projects coming up so I'm trying to figure out the best method.

The sorenson squeeze seems a bit pricey. is it worth it. does it make a big difference?

I always dynamic link when I can...speeds up the process on my aging system as its faster than re-rendering everything when i make a change.
With you're system being faster than mine I'd guess you'd do even better.
I remember reading somewhere that MPE doesnt work in After Effects but I dont remeber if they were using dynamic link or not since Premiere Pro would be able to use the MPE.

The 470's a supported card. I just starting using the dynamic link and I'm liking it. So much to learn in this program. Feel like I learn something new every day.

After effects has the ram preview which works pretty good but it seems like I get better exports from premiere. Sometimes my exports from after effects are jittery. Not sure why?
