I haven't been too crazy about Premiere CS5.5's performance since I started using it and I can't figure out what the deal is. I have a new 2011 MacBook Pro and a simple sequence with an old HDV file in there, Premiere's HDV1080p24 preset, and a very simple levels adjustment. It can't playback without dropping frames after going for about 4 seconds. I open up FCP7 (which is 32-bit by the way) and put the same file in a properly configured sequence, add the same type of adjustment effect...and it's smooth as butter. Not a single dropped frame to speak of.
Anybody have any idea what's going on? I have 8GB of RAM, and don't have any weird settings causing this as far as I know. Just doesn't make any sense to me that CS5.5 can't play an old HDV 25mb/s compressed file with a simple 3way CC adjustment smoothly on this new laptop, but old FCP7 can.
Any ideas?
