CS4 workflow..same as CS5?

Hi
Need to purchase CS4 After Effects and Premiere since I can't afford to update my 4 year old 32 bit iMac for another 6 months to a year.

Can anyone tell me if the workflow when dealing with DSLR footage is identical to CS5?
Can I edit natively or do I transcode first?
 
Premiere Pro never has a transcode process so the footage would just go directly into the timeline both on CS4 and CS5. CS5 however is considerably faster so performance will vary depending on your machine.
 
CS4 had trouble with a lot of DSLR formats. It never really was designed for them. CS5 was. And CS5.5 will be even better (due out in May).
