CS4 Premier AE composition glitch

I made a short video and all of the clips that I replaced with AE composition, the moving objects come out glitchy. As you can see in the picture below. I cannot figure out why this is doing this. Would love to figure it out and make it go away.

Thanks for your help.

That would be because it's interlaced. It's not a glitch but a way of encoding two fields into a single frame. A quick way to get rid of it in After Effects is to change the setting to 'Upper' or 'Lower' field instead of 'None' in the Interpret Footage dialogue box in the right click menu of a clip. You are throwing half your resolution away, though, there are better ways to deinterlace your footage.

Thanks,

So is upper better or lower better or does it not better.

Also, how do i deinterlace my footgage better than changing the settings to lower or upper???

It's not necessarily an interlaced issue, might be a pulldown issue. What was the frame rate of the original footage? 60i or 24p?

Upper and Lower are at different points in time. Neither of them are better or worse.

One way would be to use VirtualDub with its built in algorithms or plugins to have better results when deinterlacing. You can also do it manually in AfterEffects. Here's an Andrew Kramer tutorial about it.

Whoa, hang on. 24p? The p in 24p means 'progressive' which means that it is not interlaced which means that you shouldn't be getting artefacts like that at all...
Which camera and settings did you use?

Then it's a pulldown issue, not an interlaced issue. Your footage going from Premiere to AE is being improperly interpreted and the pulldown frames aren't correctly removed, hence the interlacing.

A simple fix is to rightclick the footage in the Premiere bin, select Interpret Footage (the frame rate should read 29.97) and select the frame rate as 23.976.
