CS4 Metadata Management

So I'm working on a short project that has a few hundred clips all p2 mxf spread throughout 7 main folders. In order to manage them, I brought each folder in one at a time and edited the description with keywords to help me search when I'm editing. I linked the 'Clip Description' to the Dublin Core 'Description'.

If I leave all the clips imported in my PP project, it takes up way too much memory. So, I was planning to use Bridge to search the metadata and bring in only the clips relating to the particular subject I was editing. Unfortunately, it appears as though Bridge doesn't accurately read mxf metadata. The other option is using 'Edit->Find' or a search filter in PP, but that only works with clips already imported.

So, my question is can anyone tell me how I might manage my clips in this situation? Is there something I'm missing or is there any way to search mxf metadata for files not already imported?

I have the same question/problem.
I know the p2viewer can do this, but there is no support for other metadata except the mxf-metadata.
On the other side, it seems that the metadatawindow in premiere doesnt show all metadatafields wich are included in mxf.

When you edit the metadata in CS4, it doesn't actually edit the MXF-created XML files -- it creates new XMP files in the same folder. So, it's parallel metadata created by CS4. In some instances, it starts with the MXF metadata, but if changes are made, it's not in the MXF metadata. It's internal to CS4.
