CS4 Export OMF?

Just curious if anyone knows, can CS4 export OMF audio files into Pro Tools (I know CS2 couldn't but I'm looking at editing my next short film shortly and need to know if Adobe will work)

Love to know as soon as someone tests CS4 OMF Export to Protools workflow.

Fingers crossed that it works.

Forgot about AAF, can't you just export and import a project into Pro Tools doing that just as easily as with OMF then?

What would be the advantage if OMF became a valid workflow on CS4 then? (Found some tech explanations involving framework exports and file pointing, but looking for a more simple explanation if anyone can oblige)

as far as I know OMF is proprietory to Digidesign (Pro Tools), remember, you're gonna have to have the full blown system for omf to work, or purchase the plugin digiTranslator if you only have the LE version.

AAF in premiere pro is badly, badly implemented. If omf is in cs4 then that would just about make it the perfect editor if it didn't crash so much.

Still hoping an early adopter of CS4 will do an OMF test...ASAP.

So many Premiere Users complained "long and loud" at the absence of it. Now its allegedly here...who is using it?

I would do it but my CS4 package is weeks away.

where does it say that cs4 now has omf export? I've got protools le, just need to wait til theres a trial version so i can see if its worth upgrading.

I now can not find where I read that OMF export is included in CS4. (Maybe I misread)

Surely someone can tell us by now.

Here is the semi official reply: Source Wil Renczes - Adobe Forum

QUOTE: "Nope, this is confusion coming from trade show conversations, where it was unofficially 'leaked' at IBC that we are working on this.

CS4 out of the box will not support OMF; OMF export will be included in the first update. (Ie it's being beta tested now.)

(And no, I won't comment on when that update will be available. Considering that I said it's in beta now, you can draw your own conclusions ) "

I'm trying to use this feature now to import into ProTools, and it's driving me up a wall. It simply doesn't work. Maybe it's my project, but I'm having no luck, and AAF isn't an option because ProTools won't read it (even with audio embedded), perhaps because the project is mostly P2 MXF.

The export goes at a pretty good clip, but then stalls about 1/3 the way through (even if I lop off half the project as a test, it still stalls at 1/3). The odd thing is, the program doesn't freeze. So after 10 minutes, I get frustrated of waiting and click "cancel."

Then the program completely crashes, and I get a "crash report" dialog box.

Google is no help because this feature is so new that, as evidanced by this thread, no one has used it yet.

Anyone have any advice?

Haven't played with it yet, but I'll give it a try...I'd let it go a little longer - it may be something that takes some time to do...have some patience! :)

Ha! I figured it out. I had a clip which was a bit of room tone stretched to %120 speed, and that hung up the export, since it can't export a "time remapped" clip (I totally failed to catch it when I did tests of a reduced timeline).

Works pretty well for me now. I guess it just takes a bit of a learning curve to understnad compatibility and process (as I should know by now, having gone through a similar process with every program and every feature in the programs that now make up Adobe's Master Collection over the past 10 years).

Kudos to Adobe for adding such major features in free updates (like last year's P2 upgrade, or this one, or the new native RED feature).

Thanks for sharing The Noble Robot,,. Now I have to out and get the Digitranslator Plugin Woo hoo!!
