CS4 AVCHD Problems

I'm having problems with CS4 and native AVCHD files. The playback in the monitor window is stuttery on the video, the audio plays fine.

The computer is a MacPro 2.8 ghz 10GB Ram. The AVCHD files are from a HMC150 in 1080 30p in the PH mode (highest quality) 1920x1080.

I have heard the highest quality could be the problem, CS4 seems to not like 21 mbps footage.

I don't want to drop down to a lower quality. Defeats the purpose of having such a great camera.

If I transcoded to a different codec, what codec would that be? What program would I use to do so?

I can transcode to Prores with FCP and it works great. Footage looks great. I like the workflow Adobe offers with PP, AE and Encore.

Medeamajic is right, on a Mac your only option right now is Cineform NeoHD or Neo Scene, though Cineform ProspectHD v4 (which is designed for CS4) should be out in the next week or so (though it's also $750). Same codec with all of them, you just get some more bells and whistles with NeoHD and still more withProspectHD

AVCHD is hard ot edit. You might want to invest in Cineform for a mere $99.99 at the videoguys.com

Problem is that Premiere CS4 on the Mac does terribly with Intermediate Quicktime codecs. On my MacPro I have tried Cineform as well as Avid's intermediate and also ProRes. They all stutter as bad as avchd. Cineform has not optimized their Mac version for CS4.
