CS3 vs Vegas 7.0e

I use Vegas now and i'm no professional but I understand most of what i'm doing. But a friend of mine is telling me to get CS3 because it's a beefier tool, but at a beefier price. So I started checking online and it looks like it has some cool things(that i dont even understand yet) and has more options for rendering.

One of my biggest complaints is that when I work in Vegas the video seems to look fine(for my handle panasonic) but then when I render certain areas looks grainy and I can't figure out how to fix it...Is this something Premeire would be able to resolve for me...or don't io have enough info.

Also how's the learning curve...like i said before i understand Vegas fairly well, so will my experience with Vegas translate well into learning CS3?

Thanks for any info.

Areas that are grainy are usually "shadow area exposure issues" and not totally fixeable.

You should have no problems learning a new NLE. Why not get the Trial Version.

Premiere is a step up in terms of going towards a more traditional (professional?) editing platform, at least in terms of Source/Record view and editing to a timeline. Vegas is mostly dragging to the timeline, then resizing the clip with your mouse, which works great for some people.

Unless you find something in Premiere that you really need, stick with Vegas. Learning the technical side of rendering would be a better investment of time/money than buying a whole new editing software.

It does seem to happen on our walls(which are grey) and where the lighting isnt that great...usually in the background...that makes sense. So i need more lighting when that happens?

Thanks for the input on Premiere....one of the reasons i wanted it was because it comes with After effects and I have nothing i can see that i can use with vegas to do the effects that Premeire/After Effects acna do together...plus they both integrate with Photoshop which i use most for editing pictures and stills.
