cs3 annd 7d

Hi,
We currently have 2 PC systems and recently got a few 7D's, however we managed to find problems concerning the .avi files after the Cineform Neoscene conversion..

In Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, the video's playback after the conversion and rendering seems very jittery. Minor strobe-like look to the clips. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? There are essentially three steps in where these clips might be manifesting the "jitter-like" video fault: 7D camera settings, Cineform settings, and Premiere Pro's project settings. If anyone has any information on the correct settings for a flawless (and jitter-less) video playback, it would be greatly appreciated! The quality from this camera is out of this world beautiful, its a shame to discard it due to a setting issue..

Thanks!

If it's jittery then it's probably a pulldown removal issue. In this case Cineform would be the culprit.

There is no pulldown to remove. It shoots 24P (23.976) native.

But you shot 60p and converted to 24p ? How did you do the conversion?

This will result in jittery motion if you use frame drop method

It looks like there are blends as well , so it looks like you did some sort of frame blend as well

If you don't want jitters, shoot 24p and use 24p timeline.

If you insist on 60p=>24p you need to use a frame interpolation method to get smooth frames (side effect is generated artifacts)

The aliasing on that video is very, very bad. Buzzing lines. This is likely the result of using 720p on the 7d, a major weak spot of that camera

I actually sold my 7D - it was that bad.

If you search the 7D forum there should are lots of samples, both native, and processed.

It's pretty much a consensus that 720p mode sucks on the 7D, practically unusable. Have a look at the technical tests and charts and you will understand why. You see the same things in your sample too.
