In AE, Particular really is an easy way to pull this off. The belief tut is the way to do it. Maybe post some examples of what you're getting and we can figure out why its not working for you. Screengrabs of your settings, etc...
well I am learning to do it for a project coming up. I was creating little stick figures in photoshop to use as "people". I just get random placement of the figures all over the place where a crowd needs to be pushed back in spaced like they are all standing on the same floor. Yes I am using 3d space but I just get that fountain spraying particle look.
Sounds like you need to change your emitter to "box" and then your, I think x value to 0. You can change your y and z values to howver large you want your "floor"
well if you got £8,000 pounds to buy that software + a team of programmers, massive is the way to go (I watched the LOTR documentaries on the speacial DVD edition, Massive was a direct result of making LOTR).
But for us little guys just using sprites/particles is the way to go.
I tried this tutorial, but when it comes time to key out the background for some reason I can't get it to reveal the layer behind it. Any suggestions to what I'm doing wrong?
Put just the clip you want to apply the chroma key on the timeline.....apply the keyer and use the eye drop tool to select what color you want to key. Then change the tolerence to take out the range that you need. This is just the basic steps....it can get complicated.
But if that works, then you can apply more clips to the timeline behind the layer.
Tried that, but the problem is there is only one clip and the rest is being generated via particular. Whats happening is it's like its leaving a matte which is blocking the view of the others.
