Crossgrade from 4.5 Academic to 5.0

[PeeDee]

Hey, this seems like a ridiculous question, since I've sent an e-mail to Apple Support, but is there a way to crossgrade from Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 Academic Package to 5.0 Studio Package? I

Has anyone done this?

That's a good question- I'd suggest calling the Apple Store up directly and asking what their policy is today.

The answer was on the same page you linked to.

Under the title "Upgrade to Final Cut Studio:

Final Cut Pro 4 or HD (4.5) $199 Final Cut Studio 5.1 Universal Shipping now Download order form

On the bottom of the order form it clearly states that Final Cut Pro HD Academic versions are eligible for the upgrade.
You have until March 19th 2007 to send in your order.

I went from Academic Final Cut Suite 4.5 to the FCS 5.1 for $200...great deal because if you have an Academic license earlier than 5.0 you get a retail version of 5.1, which means you will be eligible for upgrades when FCS 6 comes out. With academic software, there is no upgrade path to the next version.

I thought the crossgrade was over. Is it still going?

Still going on, just a few bucks more than it used to be, I believe.
