cross posting this since no one answered on the FCP forum.

The production team shot a whole music video in 60P but sped the music track up to 200% vs the 250% you need for a perfect 23.976 conform while maintaining lip sync. the current workflow to correct this is 60P conform to 30p and then hard converted to 23.976 (no speed change) on final export. this yeilds sub-par results as there is jump every 5 frames. Although i dont think its possible to correct the production mistake fully, is there some thing im missing that can yeild better results while maintaining sync? some software or plugin that can handle frame conversions better? twixtor maybe?

If you can 't go back to do things differently, the approach used in twixtor , after effects, nuke, motion, avisynth etc... is to use motion interpolation

Essentially what happens is the 60p will be converted to 120p (every 2nd frame interpolated), then it's evenly divisible by 5, to 24p . Because it's evenly divisible, there is no cadence judder

(Those are just round number approximations, the actual values are 24000/1001, 60000/1001, and 120000/1001)

The "negatives" include interpolation errors (edge morphing artifacts), slower processing times. Sometimes it works great, but some types of content is poorly interpolated . For difficult shots (e.g. objects that cross over another), you can use mattes to improve the interpolation
