Cropping.

In after effects, I can change the composition to 720x380, and it just crops out the height. Cool.

In FCP, when i change it to 720x380, it squishes it height wise.

Why does it do this?

Because the different programs are performing different commands. Do you know Adobe Photoshop at all? Think about the differences between using the Image Size and Canvas Size options. Its the same deal here (well in essence).

In Final Cut Pro if you need to do the crop you could always just create a new sequence with the reduced canvas size and then just make sure all of your distort options are normal and the aspect ratio and such are also the same. In this case your image will end up getting cropped.

Compressor has cropping abilities in it though, so you can use that too when leaving FCP to do the cropping. I forget which box/tab its under in the inspector. But it is there.
