Crock Hunter Steve Irwin Dead

I'm sure he lived a FULL life; but damn his wife and child must be bitter
Exactly what I said to a coworker of mine (in the opposite order). While tragic for his family, he achieved what most of us only dream of - doing fully what he loved. I have never seen anyone like him on TV. He was 100% believable in what he was doing. I guess it's kinda a difficult to stage a croc attack...

On the subject of coworkers and friends - the amount of cynical and disparaging comments people make about his life & death is just astounding. What a cynical society we've become... It's almost like 'I can't live my dream, so I'll make someone else's dream look like foolishness or stupidity'. Poor souls...

RIP, Steve. I loved your shows.

Like Marlin Perkins and Jack Hannah before him, Steve made the natural world accessible, interesting and entertaining to millions of people who might not have otherwise been exposed to it.

I personally admired his unwavering dedication toward conservation efforts and his ability to effortlessly educate people of all ages.

Putting himself in peril's way was just part of the show - sometimes you have to get dirty was the mantra he lived by.

Bravo, Steve and best wishes to the Irwin family.

He was a great guy, funny too.

Ps, to anyone who responded in my US Army thread, Thanks for the replies, got me thinking here and there, but couldn't say that in there it was locked =<
