Crock Hunter Steve Irwin Dead

A huge loss, for all ages

A huge loss, for all ages

I first learned about Steve watching a program he did with the Wiggles; we had it on for my 2-year old. It was a great show because Steve's passion for the animals really showed through, and while my daughter was engrossed for the music and dancing and acting, I enjoyed watching Steve's enthusiasm for the animals. I really, really feel for his family, but I hope I go out doing something I love half as much.... He's already missed.

He really enjoyed the furry and scaly folk, and did a hell of a lot for them.
From what I understand, his Crocodile Hunter TV show etc. generated a huge amount of money, and he chose to spend it buying up massive tracts of land to leave them completely undeveloped, thus to forever preserve the habitat for the wildlife that had done so much for him. His way of "giving back" to the furry and scaly things that he cared so much about.

It is a sad day. Steve Irwin was the best.

well he was a crazy guy.. always sticking his head in those croc's mouths.. but he was a good guy doing those documentaries for animal planet and stuff.

I felt nauseaus when my brother told me about this first thing this morning... and it's almost midnight and I still can hardly believe it. I always thought Steve would be around... I never saw anything like this coming... I just didn't think it would ever happen even though it seemed inevitable in hindsight.

Such a bummer... really... really sad day.

I remember the first time I saw him, I was thinking, "wtf, is this guy for real?" But his enthusiasm is infectious and quickly grew on me. A very sad loss. :(

Man, this still bumped, sucks because i keep getting reminded, hopefully Discovery puts together something cool.

It's not often that a celebrity dies and there really isn't a bad thing to say about them. Steve Irwin was the man. I was really bummed to hear about this one.

I heard they will air the footage of when it happened... I hear Steve said he would have wanted them to... RIP.

Supposedly, he got stung and he quickly pulled the barb from his chest but not before it had injected the poison. If they do air the footage, I don't think I can watch. I am so sad about it all. I already miss the guy and think he was one of the genuinely nice people on earth. My prayers go out to his family.

very sad.. the guy was a window to a world a lot of people don't get to see. sad day. may his work continue.

Apparently it happened when he was shooting a segment for his daughter's kids oriented nature show.

Talk about freak occurences. The guy deserved something better than this like living to a ripe old age instead of being cut down decades too soon.

very sad...i was truly bummed to hear the news and if i could experience a fraction of his adventures in life...i would be a very happy man

Tragic loss for the wildlife society. But, he left this world doing what he loved to do. My heart goes out to his wife and 2 young kids.

I thought I'd post this video as a tribute. He wrestled some of the most dangerous animals on the planet, yet when he lost one of his "friends" he cried authentically and genuinly for her, like a child, without malice. Just a little something to remind us maybe of the last loving soul on the planet... now extinguished.

It tough to lose someone with so much energy and passion for life. He was a true inspiration to all of us with dreams. My prayers go out to his family.

I am so heartbroken to hear of Steve Irwin's passing. A stingray?! Just doesn't seem real.

I'm sure he knew he would die in "the field" though. On the bright side, that guy lived more in his 44 years than most people twice his age.

R.I.P. Steve . . . you will be missed . . .

I still can't believe it.

Why Him? Why not one of those dudes from JackAss? Don't want to wish death on anyone but sometimes life isn't fair. He just wanted to help and preserve nature.
