Critique My Motion Graphics Reel

Here is a private vimeo link for my new reel. I would love some feedback before I start using it publicly. The password is "panda"

All the animation is mine. I mostly work with graphics/illustrations from clients/istock. A few of the clips were storyboarded by someone else.

Are the Panda "blips" working? Is the Spanish Dict to jerky? Anything else? Cheers,

Didn't really notice the panda blips until I read it and looked for them. I'm not sure the casual observer will get it. All in all, you keep getting better work on your reel, but this edit doesn't work for me. For such a frantic and energetic beat, the edit is too slow, hang on shots too long, and just doesn't vibe overall. I'm assuming you're cutting to the more melodic, swelling parts of the song, but there's better drum and bass for that, like LTJ Bukem or more of the downbeat, ambient stuff.

I think you could do better with the intro and outro. First, they're totally different. One's white and clean with vignetting and the panda, the end frame is a type mismatch, along with a color mismatch that doesn't go at all with the intro. I would tie that together, tighten up your branding, especially being the first and last things people see.

Some of your edit choices of the individual pieces should be rethought. Try to cut in on the action more. The SanDisk one is a good example. Right now you see it completely stopped, then it flys around, then it stops. We don't need to see all that, just cut it on the move and cut out right when it comes to a rest. This will keep the excitement up.

It's cool to see your work improving, that's always good! I love the ladybug stuff, you have a good eye for those compositions with the clean design elements, a la the coffee bean stuff that was new on the last reel I saw.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the input oneinfiniteloop. The intro outro mismatch was completely my fault. Woops. I fixed that along with a few other issues. I will keep in mind your ideas about the music and cutting on the action. The video above is the latest version now.
