Critique my business promo video...

Thanks 24fps4ever

So instead of slow acoustic guitar I should have like rock music or something?

Ok.

Anything else, a little more specific?

it does not have to be rock, it can be many things, just get a kind of music that you like that is more dynamic, I would not call you if I saw that commercial, you need to have a little of everything, kinda the highlights of the event, in example
on the wedding shot, get a more exciting shot, like when they toss the bride or the groom, I cant even remember, my wife would will me if she read this but you get the point, get the highlight of the even and then just exaggerate it in a image kinda way

hope this helps

Hi CD,

Yes, the demo needs much more punch - you want to excite the prospective customer and incent them to do biz with you. You can find lots of exciting music at affordable prices; check out Royalty Free Music, Sound Ideas, Stock 20, CSS Music, etc. Depending on your business model, you might go for suspense/drama, classic, modern, etc. For instance, for wedding video wouldn't you rather listen to something sexy like Michelle Featherstone?

Also, use more dramatic cuts between demo shots - slow dissolves to black will probably make the client get sleepy. Along the same line, you should strongly consider adding motivated camera work instead of a lot of static shots. Show the clients you know camera shots; picking up the pace also stimulates interest and helps to close the sale. I'm sure you'll agree you don't want to focus on a somber message (slow music, slow cuts, inactive camera work). We could also get into color, lighting, etc but this should get you started...

Good luck, Michael

I didn't hear any music, so I can't comment on whether it was appropriate or not. I thought the opening shot would have been much nicer if the YouTube compression hadn't blurred it so bad. Over all, it was good, but too slow. I think a slightly faster pace would work better.

Yeah, you guys are right.

I have a bit of work to do.

I really apprieciate all the feedback, and hopefully I'll be up again with a revised promo video.

Everybody keep it real,

Again, they're a bit too static - while customers won't expect you to do something as exotic as David Robbins' 3D Photo Montage, it would be a good idea to add some Ken Burns panning effects - there's lots of low-end software programs to help you do this (generating AVI files) if your not up to the task using your NLE.

Regards, Michael

I agree with michael, they were too static, but they just seemed to appear for no rhyme or reason too. It really messed with the flow.

I see no video but less being more, unless it's a "wow, we need to have this guy do our video" kind of demo, your best off just listing services and contact info.
