Saw Creed last night. It was really good. Good acting, cinematography, writing, direction, etc, maybe played out too conveniently. Worth seeing definitely but found it showed me exactly what I needed to see, what I was expecting, but did it well.

Thoughts?
 
I really enjoyed it. I wish the writing was a bit sharper. Some of it felt a little half-baked. And I wish they used more of the iconic music. But Stallone was great. Jordan was strong and the final fight really got the juices going. If I was ranking it, I'd put Rocky 1&2 at the top, III next and then Creed closely behind. I watched IV again recently and while it has sentimental value it's barely a movie, just a couple montages strung together between two fights. V isn't worth mentioning. I know a lot of people liked Rocky Balboa but I didn't respond to it. This felt like a more worthy sequel.
 
I really enjoyed Creed.

I'm a big Rocky fan in general, but I liked this outside of the nostalgia too.

It felt a bit cramped, like there was one too many fights in the movie or it could've used 20 more minutes.

Some plot points felt a bit half-baked for me.

I also didn't like the running with the dirtbikes gag.

I know the call back it made, but that was just kind of stupid to me and a bit appropriated. It fit and was relevant, it's just no 12 O'Clock Boys.

I loved being in the Rocky universe but being from a different perspective. It's not a Rocky movie, it's a Creed movie in Rocky's world. That was great.

As a big PTI fan, I love that they had a segment in there.

Good movie, good acting from Stallone.
However, the story was so classical. Which, obviously, it's what made it work on so many levels. Yet, we've seen this story so many times...

But I enjoyed it!
