Creating newspaper headlines?

I want to add some stills of mock newspaper headlines to my video project. I was going to try taking a photo of an actual newspaper and tweaking it in Photoshop, but it would be tough to convincingly match up the new type with original. Anyone ever try this? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Gary

This should actually be relatively easy using the technique you mention.
I've done in this past to create everything from headlines to fake labels.
The key is to make sure it doesn't look too pretty - you want it to still contain the imperferctions real typesetting might.

This may be obvious, but my technique is this:

Scan the newspaper.
Find a matching font for the section you want to replace. Alse be sure to get an exact match on the shade of printed black to match.
Clone or paint over the original headline.
Place the new headline over the old spot.

Sometime adding a slight "blur" to the new typeset makes it look natural. I'm sure there are other techniques to add texture, but I usually just play with every setting until it matches.

I don't know why scanning didn't occur to me! Yeah, that would be much easier to deal with than a photo. Will try the blur as well. Thanks a million!

use real news papers, put them in photoshop, and do what you wish to them, then blur out any text thats noticably unrelated.
