Creating Navigatable Interfaces With Adobe After Effects

Hi fellow forum members,

I'm actually quite new to After Effects. I wish to see your advice on a certain matter.

As far as I know, AE is superb for creating stunning special effects for video & animated text. Macromedia Flash on the other hand is good for creating navigatible webpages for users to point & click, which can also be an off-line interface if need be.

I work a lot with video & was wondering if I can actually use After Effects to create really nice user interfaces that can be navigated by the user, just like what Flash can currently do. For example an information KIOSK where a user points & clicks on a button in the interface & a movie window loads up to play a certain video & other buttons in the interface can perform other functions. The only difference is that this Info. KIOSK was not created with Macromedia Flash, but with After Effects.

Do you know if this is possible & has anyone done it before? In your opinion, will it be difficult to create a navigatible interface using AE? That's all the questions I have for now. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Andrew

AE is a compositing software. you can composite, effect and render with AE. then you can import the rendered videos to flash (F8 has nice video handling) and make you website or what ever you want

AE 6.5 and Flash 8 is the way to go (AE 7 will be even better). Just think of it as a DVD menu.....except really hard to make. Even though Flash 8 has improved it still has a long way to go, but with time, patients and practice you can create beautiful pieces of internet entertainment.
