Creating Ghosts

Hey Guys,

I had a quick question if anyone here had some ideas for me. I'm trying to create some ghost like images for a film I'm working on in After Effects.

Basically, the closest thing to what I''d like it to look like would be the ghosts you see in the Star Wars movies (the original ones, not the new crap that's come out the last couple of years.) Anyway, I shot the subjects in front of a green screen, and I tried playing with the opacity and color correcting it to make it look more blue, but I feel like it's just not coming out right. In the shot the ghosts are standing in front of the stars, so the problem with just upping the opacity is that it makes the ghosts look alot darker.

If anyone had any suggestions or could point me to some tutorials, I'd really appreciate it.

Thats a great tutorial. And, since it was green screened, you can create a dedicated alpha just for the glow, or many layers of them, and animate properties to your hearts content, mixing and matching.

If you are worried that the ghosts are coming out too dark when you opacity them down, look into some of you lightening blending modes.
