Creating File for the Internet

I am having a lot of trouble finding the best way to render my videos or "make the movie" in FCP for the internet. For our website at work I need an MP4 file. I've been exporting my file to Quicktime to create a .mov then using MPEG Streamclip to convert the file to an MP4 but it's pausing during playback on our site. We have a very fast internet connection at work and most videos play right away. Only my files glitch, so it's clearly something with the files. Additionally, everything takes FOREVER to render. I'm currently rendering a file that is just one minute and four seconds long. It's still got 19 minutes to go. Surely, I'm doing something wrong. I exported a file recently to youtube using the "share" option in FCP. It was just a two minute piece but it took about 30 minutes to render and upload to Youtube. Does this seem like a long time? Any suggestions on how to set up for an mp4 file?

First, what codec are you making the QT files for editing in FCP? If these are SD, they should be DV-NTSC, if HD they should be DVCPRO-HD if that's native, ProRes 422 for HDV, ProRes LT for DSLR.

Then, check this out, takes you from a QT Play cheat, to Compressor Droplets, for web video.

Hi Ben, Thank you so much. This link is great. The only problem I have is that when I open my file in Quicktime Player, and resize, my Quicktime does not give me the option to Export. It gives me the options to save and save for web. When I pull those up it doesn't give me the options that are available in the video. Do you, by chance, know why that may be? Thank you again for your help!!!

Actually, I imported my file into Final Cut and was able to make the movie that way with the settings on the video. It's much faster and, hopefully, will look good. Thank you!!
