I have been trying to use Sekonic's DTS software in conjunction with an L-478D meter and a Sekonic Exposure Profile Target II chart to create profiles for each my lenses, but I keep running into the same conundrum: the three-exposure test (-3 stops, middle gray, + 3 stops) doesn't cover the camera's dynamic range, and I can't generate enough light for the extended five-exposure test (-8 stops, -4 stops, middle gray, +4 stops, +8 stops), even with ND filters. It probably doesn't help that I'm measuring with a variable aperture lens that's set to f/5.6.
Before anyone suggests it, I'm trying to avoid tweaking the ISO because I think that it may have an impact on dynamic range, and the camera's shutter speed is limited to 1/24 at the slow extremity -- this would not be a problem on a stills camera.
Does anyone have a methodology that works for them?
