"Creating Audio Engine" Error

I've used Vegas for about two years now, and its suddenly stopped working. I attached my microphone to the computer about a week ago, and the computer gave me an error about the microphone. I dismissed it, and tried opening vegas. The startup screen started, and then just sits at "Creating Audio Engine". I don't know if the microphone problem is related, but its the only thing I can think of that might have caused it. I've tried COMPLETELY uninstalling a few times (even deleting the registry keys) and I still get it every time. I'd really appreciate any help on the matter. Thanks!

Something else is grabbing the audio and not releasing it. This happens to me sometimes if an mp3 player is running (but not always), and also when I'm running a background-audio-dubber (for recording audio from movies while they're playing.)

Did you just install the new Internet Explorer?

I did and got the same error. I uninstalled it and Vegas works again.

You might want to run another browser like mozilla firefox for now, as the old IE is probably more susceptible to virus attacks.

Thanks again Microsoft.:badputer:

Ha! I've been using firefox for about six years (actually, I run both firefox and google chrome now). But there might have been an update installed that would have done it. I'll try that. Thanks

When worst comes to worse just re-instal your windows then install vegas first and see if it works

Yeah, thats a bit drastic. I use Premiere as my main editing program, I just use Vegas as an audio composer. I have some old vegas projects that I would like to get into it, but I have wayyyyy too many programs and things setup on my computer to do a reinstall.

By the way, I don't even have internet explorer installed on my machine, so that idea is out the door....

I've got the exact same problem completely out of the blue. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and that hasn't work. I have recently gotten the new Internet Explorer. Going to remove that and come back here after restarting to see if that works...
