hey,
I shot a television for a test. so how do i take another clip and put it on the television digitally. so it looks nice like its really comming through the television?

Re: creating an image on an image(television)

you'll most likely need to use mattes. It would be easiest to use a compositing program like After Effects to accomplish this type of shot. It's a pretty easy shot to create. (assuming your shot of the tv is locked down and still)

thanks a lot.
What if the television is at an angle, how do you get the clip at the angle also??
Thanks

I don't know the details of your project, but why not actually play the video on the TV? It'll make sure you don't have any unwanted motion even if you move your camera. If it's a quality issue, then just use the TV as an establishing shot then go to just the footage (not run through the TV).

For post use you'll need to corner pin the image (using a corner pin effect) and set each corner to match the TV. If it's a moving shot then you'll need to track the corners.

The easiest thing to do is to scale down the clip so that it fits inside the TV then adjust your crops (left, right, top and bottom) and then feather your edges so they are soft. You may need to use the distort tool to give it that curved look unless the TV is a flat screen. If the TV is at an angle you would again use the distort tool and just play around with the clip until you like what you see.

Layer the background plate under the TV plate in your sequence. With the television being at an angle, use the distort tools or the distort option under the motion tab, instead of cropping. Then you'll get the exact image you want on the screen. You can add some TV interlacing with a photoshop file, which act as clips in FCP. Also might want to consider desaturating the television image... it always seems to help.

Looks fantastic man. Where did you find your static footage?
