Creating a time lapse in FCP

The B Camera operator on our short set up one of the cameras and captured 46 minutes of a sunset. Now I'd like to make it into about a 30 second time lapse. Tried increasing speed to 8,000 and it sort of does the trick but looks a bit funny. Plus there's a big decrease in brightness between the first and second frame for some reason.

Is there a better way to do time lapse. Before I go and manually grab every 720th frame, is there a smarter way. Searched the forum and didn't find much.
 
Nattress makes a great plugin for that called GSpeed. Can tell it to skip frames or remove frames. Don't do it manually...its an unnecessary waste of time.

Perfect. Got it and installed it but there's no support for those free plug ins and it's not very intuitive. How would I get it to say play one frame every 5 seconds or so?
