Creating a still frame in AFter effects?

I'm sure I'm wasting my time here.

I have a series of animations where the video reaches the end and freezs. I then roto the chunks I want and push through.

My current workflow is, I have been making still fames in my eding package and exporting the still.

To make things worse, there is a bug in FCP that will not export HVX still frames with the correct pixel aspect.....

So I have to find the frame in Quicktime player and do it from there.

UGH.....

I'm sure I can make a still frame very easily in AE...I just don't know how.

Can some one help me out.

How do I make a still fame in AE?

Have the layer you want to affect active, select Layer, Time, Enable time remapping. This will create two keyframes in your active layer. Leave them were they are. Streach the end point of the layer out as far as you need.

Hope that all makes sense.
 
Under file you can create a proxy for a video. Pick image.

If you need a couple pictures, make the project short and you can render as a jpeg, png, etc. sequence.
