Creating a Shortcut for Export

Anyone know of a way to create a keystroke for Export Using QuickTime Conversion?

Also, any way to set the default to say Still Image instead of having to change it everytime I want to make a still image from a clip?

I'm trying to export stills from FCP but would like to try and automate the process as much as possible.

Nice images on your site. I can't wait to see the reel!

I can help you with the keystroke, but not the default for the settings.

Go up to Tools > Keyboard Layout > Customize

There you will have a list of all of FCP's commands and menu items. Go in to File > Export etc... and setup the keystroke you want.

Hope that helps and good luck with the default!

Hey Johnnyfive,
Got it set. Thanks. Now if I can get the default set to Still Image, I'll be set. Trying to make thumbnails of all these video clips is a pain.

Reel should be up soon.

Here's how I do it. Make a new Bin in the Browser window and call it Production Stills, double click to open it in it's own window on top of the Browser. Then I scrub through my Timeline, find a frame I want a still of, hit Shift+N to create a new still in the Viewer window, drag it to my stills Bin window. Scrub, Shift+N, drag-n-drop.

Once I have all my stills in the Production Stills Bin (you may wish to rename as you go, too), I close that Bin's window. So, in my Browser I highlight the Bin, go to File > Batch Export. Then I only have to set the export format once, it applies to everything in that Batch, click Export once, poof, done.
