CREATING A REFERENCE MOVIE?

Does anyone know how to go about creating a "reference movie" in FCP?

I have a 35 gig output file that keeps crashing my cleaner 6 program when I go to compress for the web. I was told that creating a reference movie could avoid this, but I don't know how to do it.

When choosing the Export > Quicktime Movie, make sure there is no check in the box labeled "Make Movie Self-Contained."
