Even though I'm gearing up to finally make a first feature of my own, I've been looking at this as an alternative to raising money for just one movie. I have always found that approximately the same amount of time is taken up whenever you go out and capitalize a project. It would seem to me that a production fund would be useful. Why piss around with just one movie? Even studios know that if they make multiple pictures the one that becomes a hit usually more than makes up for the duds, (not that I would want any of them to be a dud).
I have three finished scripts, but the one I really want to produce first is still in development. The fund would be for two of the finished three and the one currently in development.
Anyone familiar with production funds or has put a fund together and is aware of any downsides?
