Creating a moving graph over image

Hey,

Havent posted under this section before!

Im creating a corporate type video using google earth. Ive got a shot of the world spinning, and want to create a graph that "draws" itself over the background shot. The material I have to work with its: the background shot, a graph (basically just coloured lines on either white or black), and premier 6 (i know, bad).

Hows how I tried it, but it looks crummy:

Used the graph on white.
Made a colour matte and motion controlled it so it wipes to the right, slowing exposing the graph (looks like the lines are being drawn).
Exported that as avi.

Then:
imported the new graph video, and placed it over the shot of the world.
Applied a key to make white transparent.

It works, but the lines look grainy and horrible. How can I make them crisp and nice lookin?

Thanks, Im really in a jam and need help fast!

make your graph/ics in illustrator make it as big as u can and save as .png import into AE or pro and it'll be fine!

Hey,

thanks for the advice guys. I found out a friend of mine uses illustrator sometimes, so Ive used his copy to make the image. Just traced new hi res lines over the original lines.

BUT: how could I make this left right reveal of the graph in After Effects, while still having the background shot? Im damn useless at After Effects, Im a sound guy, not a graphics guy.

I know this is now the wrong section, but its prob best not to leave it half done.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate that.

damn! also, the png seems to be too big for premiere... its like i just see a small section of the image i made in illustrator when i import it... what are the correct size settings?

too big for premire? youre image should be 72dpi not 300dpi(incase thats what it is)
if u make a huge size wise image u can just resize it in premiere. If u make to small if u resize to be bigger it'll look like ****.

managed to work out the size problem (72 dpi), but couldnt get the wipe to work with transparency, so im keying it. it doesnt look as good, but I really just dont know how to make it better, so thats me.

thanks guys

Flash might be an option. Put your video in a layer in the background and draw the graph in the layer on top.
