Hi there,

if you have an ordinary SD camera, what's one way how to create a fake progressive look in post? Is there a special software out there that would do this?

Because you mention 25p, did you mean PAL 25 fps... or did you really mean 24 fps???

If you acquired your video footage in an 'interlaced mode', PAL or NTSC, then you can 'deinterlace' the footage. I don't know exactly how that helps, because there will still be interlace artifacts, in the form of jaggies on objects that move, and more noticeable on moving objects with sharp lines.

You could also cut your vertical resolution in half, and only use one field's worth of video, and expand that to the full 480 NTSC, or 576 PAL line resolution... then drop every other 'filled out frame'...

In any case, PAL 'frame' rate is 25 frames per second, NTSC is 29.97. Since both are interlaced format, the field rate is 50, and 60, resepectively.

Depending of course on your editing software's capability.

I guess since you are from NZ... it's PAL and 25p...
