Creating a consistant look

My question is how to create a consistent look from wide shots to close ups indoors with tracking shots using a hard light, a softbox, and available light between 3 and 6 pm or during a time of rapidly changing light.

Let me be more clear...
Not necessarily how to light such a scene (which I would love to get advice on- every little bit helps!), but what would you cheat, what would you compromise, or what would you focus on the create consistency?

Camera scene file/picture profiles. Make sure its always the same. Lock the color temperature and Iris. Basically, the only thing you just be adjusting is the focus and zoom (if not using prime lenses).

I also like to make a chart of where the lights are for each take in relation to the character(s). Just a quick drawing representing where they are and where they're pointing.

Light meter, everything. Light meter your lights separately from the sunlight, as the readings start to change on the sunlight, put ND on the window, Or if its getting darker, Punch a light through the window to simulate that same light. Its alllll about metering, all the time and changing your lights accordingly.

Also shoot your wide shots and dollys first, then get close ups last when it begins getting dark.
