Crazy boom pole issue

Apologies working with a crappy laptop and not in my usual setting. Can't post pics at the moment.

I brought a gitzo boom pole on a trip. Unscrewed the mic mount for safety. Somehow during the flight, the metal screw that connects the boom pole to the mount spun down and is now recessed. So my fingers can't reach it.

While writing this - I went and grabbed the boom pole. I tightened everything down. Heard some jiggling and realized though the stem is recessed it is not some super tight fit.

I grabbed some tape. Rolled it up in a way that it could reach down and stick the top.

I then started spinning the boom pole and holy ^&#% it worked.

Anyway, I'll post this and suggest that anyone traveling make sure to take some painter's tape or something similar and secure the tip.

Is there any reason you would need to remove that threaded tip in the future? If not, then a little Loctite or something sounds like a good idea to prevent it from happening again.
