Crawling Text Issue

Sorry to have to ask this as it's probably fairly straightfoward, but what's the deal with the crawl function in the Title Designer?

Is it even possible to create a crawl that doesn't start or end offscreen? The entire feature seems really unintuitive, I can't find a single editable parameter for starting or ending position of the text. It just automatically begins where the text is placed and rolls indefinitely until it's off screen. heeeeeeeeeelp!
 
i never did figure that out, so i just make my titles in photoshop and keyframe the movement for where i want it to start/stop. then you can put it wherever you want and make it as fast as you want.

...there's probably a better way, but this works.
