Crash

Just saw it and all I can say is ...Holy ****!
It was amazing, do yourself a favor and go watch this movie ASAP.
All the acting was suberb (even Ludacris).
I went into it thinking that it wouldn't be that good and I was totally
blown away.

The closest thing that I can compare it to would be Traffic; as far as structure. But overall, I honestly think Crash is as good, if not better.

Wasnt there a movie called Crash about this creepy subculture of people who got off on being smooshed to smithereenies in car crashes?

I saw it last night. And yeah, I loved it. It had its flaws, but I love how all the separate stories connect and how it deals with racism (even if it is on an extreme scale)

Its one of those movies that you still think about when you leave the theatre. And when that happens I feel like my 10 bucks was well spent.

Don Cheadle kicks butt! One of my favorite actors now.

Don Cheadle great. His best work so far is (in my opinion) Hotel Rwanda. Great film. Really had a good message.

I also liked *Manic* alot....which coincidentally was filmed on DV (PD150's)

they made that "flick" for under $10 million. Don Cheadle acted as producer and got all the stars agreed at the same low rate. Think that in concert wioth Hotel Rawanda, he did 2 of the more important films this year.

Love that they shot it all in LA. really good character studies and thought Ludacris was great, Sandra Bullock was great, Matt Dillon was great, Thandie Newton is the hotest actress in films today. Period. only one slight negative is I wish they had done a little more refining the script as a few of the stories just went too far.

Count me out. The movie mixes racial stereotyping with a heavy dose of irony. There really was no plot. The heavy harmonics/musical over several scenes was overdone for me. It's not a bad movie, but I wouldn't recommend it when there are better movies out there.

I just watched the trailer and it looks really good. Can someone give me their synopses on it?

A wannabe Magnolia.

Whatever buddy, it's was nothing like Magnolia.... Unless your saying that because a group of characters come together in some way, I could probably think of dozens of films that do that...

your thinking is like "Kingdom of heaven, another movie with swords; wannabe [insert movie title] .... "

. Where is P.T. anyways?

I Liked this movie alot. All of the racism was realistic and it really shows you how stupid and ignorant people can be. I agree ludacris was pretty good in this movie. So was sandra bullock she played a pretty good ***** and I was happy when she did that thing and that thing happend to her. If you havent checked this movie out yet you definitely should.

Thank you!!

*The Safety of Objects* also comes to mind....but like you say....there are tons of these movies....no need to call Crash a "wannabe".

Coltrain,

care to elaborate? clearly there are a few people who really didn't like this movie, but I haven't heard one cogent point detailing why.

I thought it reached a little too far creating some problems, but was still a very impressive movie. Many strong performances, unpredictable script, slick interwoven story, great LA locations, interesting style (whether compared to Magnolia or Traffic, or whatever).

By reaching I mean that even considering all of the strengths listed above, a few of the story resolutions (which I will not give away) did not seem authentic to me and I thought the script could have used a little more tweaking.

Why so harsh, bro?

I saw this film the other day and I walked out of the theatre shaking my head in disbelief

It was just so intense and emotional. I found that surprising given that there wasnt one single protagonist or charcter that the story focused on. Even so, the spanish guy and his daughter scene shocked and awed me...the police guy and the car scene did as well.

in terms of the racisim, i thought it was well handled, though myself being asian, i felt the asian race issues felt a little unfair...cause almost every other race had some redeeming value to them, but the korean couple came off as embarassing and up to no good even at the very end

other than that, very good film, made me fan of Haggis overnight

see it, now!

the Korean couple was the story I had problems with. Having said that, wish I could write something 1/100 as good. Haggis didn't do so bad for his other latest effort, "Million Dollar Baby."

That girl may have been me. ;)

I cried myself to sleep last night after watching the film. I live in L.A., and I felt like it nailed so many of the issues facing our communities and did it in a way that was not politically correct, yet honest and thought provoking, therefore not insulting.

Sorry, I don't analyze films.
