Crash The Superbowl! Doritos new commercial contest

http://www.crashthesuperbowl.com/#/video/1509
Here is our submission. Not one of my favorite projects I've worked on. Also, I found out some time after submitting that it almost exactly copies a Cheetoh commercial!!! But I haven't been able to find it!! We weren't even aware a commercial like that existed when we started on this production. Kind of a bummer =( If anyone could find a link to it, I'd really like to see it!

It's not the same, except the fact that one person wipes on the other. Yours is about sexual attraction while the other is more about resentment.

And you don't have a cheetah serving as a creepy antagonist.

It looks like yours got squeezed from 16x9 to 4x3.
I haven't seen the cheetah commercial either but I have seen a lot on the crash website with the same basic idea.
But hey! you never know! so..... good luck to you!
if you get that million I want 1/2  lol...

Luis thanks for the help, we just decided on H.264 at 1280 x 720 HD and 720 x 480 SD and zipped the file containing all. I'm hoping they can figure something out, still haven't heard back from them. I read somewhere that the judges are going to view them thru the backend, not thru the website, so we might be lucky on the squeezed part.

They should know that everyone waits until the last minute to submit, so the idea aren't stolen. Not sure if they expected this or not...

Damn NextWave you guys went all out, what did that spot cost or do you know someone in the demolition business ?

Looks awesome !

any time,
I'm glad you got something going there.
As long as your files had that .mov at the end:thumbsup:

I'm just feeling some type of way because I didn't have time to do what I'm capable of. It was just not enough time for me.
I just found out about the contest like 3 of 4 weeks ago and with my 2 days off from work a week it's crazy to get something great done in such little time.
In the other hand, if nothing happens, now I know and I have a year till next entry

twocik23,
do you have your entry anywhere else like vimeo or youtube?
I would like to check it out.

We called around to local demolition companies and told them our script idea. We finally found one that was excited to be involved with it and we went and shot. The first one, they didn't tell the owner and so we couldn't get the footage...but the second one was a bank owned house and that's what we used.

Cost of the spot was about $12...3 bags of Doritos :)

Luis we're in the same boat, didn't find out this year until about 3 weeks ago. Shot 3 in three days, came out alright, but you can see that they were made overnight.

As for posting them to other sites and if our submissions even made it, still waiting. They're not really answering emails at the moment, got lucky enough to have a moderator tell me don't worry I'll get you in. My talent and crew won't stop calling/emailing me. :violin:

NextWave that is awesome !!!! HA 12 bucks and some doritos.... I guess it never hurts to ask.

Curious on what you guys used for indoor lighting ?

Pete the Plumber hahaha !

We thought about doing a skit that involved a toilet, but thought they toilet... food... probably wouldn't make it. Never know though

Awesome Job !

Yea we thought this would be different, might catch an eye or two. The apple pro res looks awesome, really got my gears turning again for a short. $5 pirate costume from walmart, 2 cheap wigs I had laying around, $3 on nail polish, makeup, and the treasure map I made in photoshop, burned a few holes in it, soaked it in coffee.

As for the Ref clip, yea that actually hurt pretty bad. My buddy hit me in the jugular vein and had to stop for a min.

Thanks and good luck to you too !

I'd like to see more of what our community has pumped out for this contest, please feel free to post them here, good or bad.

Here is my entry. We shot all night, wrapped at about 6am. Then I had to run around town returning all the "open" signs as each business opened.

We had a lot of fun, even though we decided to cut the mime and the pirate at about 4:20 am...

I was able to sneak it in past the deadline (server errors, slow-a** safeway wifi, sever errors, unrecognized prores 422, server errors.) I don't know who, but I am eternally grateful to that unknown someone who gave it a late thumbs up. If I can repay them in their time of need, I shall. *End setup for an emotional roller coaster of a Will Smith flick*
