I was in an accident yesterday. First time I've ever crashed a car. It's not serious or anything, I'm fine and the car still runs, but basically I got caught between a truck and the high way fence that's in the middle of the road. I was driving past the truck when the lanes merged and I didn't see it because there was too much snow and sludge on the road.
So my right mirror and my left forward turn signal got smashed. The rest is bumps and bruises on the car but nothing major. It's an old '95 VW Caravelle.
I guess my biggest gripe with this is that I was booked to do a quick video gig in another city and was supposed to be there at 8.30am. I thought it was a 2 hour drive, and my employer thought that as well. I should and could have checked on my navigator, but I didn't. I checked google maps instead. Turns out, it was a 3 hour drive and I was late, got there an hour late (do the math on what time you have to get up in the morning for that...)
Anyway, the insurance covers it but the money I make from the gig just barely covers the insurance deductible. I get 640 USD for shooting the footage and editing it into a 2 minute video, and the deductible is 500 USD + the VAT for the repairs.
EDIT: sorry my mistake. I need to pay 500 USD + VAT for the repairs, not tax. Fixed it.
