Crane and Slider at the same time!!

Yes, the DC Slider does both.....slider that can be set for horizontal or vertical and anything in between....then attach the boom arm and bingo, a boom. We've sold quite a few in the last 6 months.

I've not used it in anger, but played with it at IBC last year for about an hour and was really impressed. Super smooth action with the counterweight and incredibly well built - one of those bits of engineering that is really pleasing. It also takes a remote so you can programme it to make a move over something crazy like 4 days.

I've seen it at NAB.

Sorry Zazza, I like what you're doing, but it's a bit more than your design. I don't think the filmtools site does justice to the product.

First of all, it's couterweighted, like a funicular. (that's a fun word to use) That makes the movement easier at any angle.

Also, the version I saw was motorized (!)
So imagine rigging this to a car and doing things like a hostess shot that dollies from a CU on the driver to a CU of a back seat passenger, or a hood mount that dollies from a CU of the driver to a CU of the passenger, or even mount from outside the window so that the camera moves from outside a car to inside a car - all while the vehicle is in motion. Amazing. The potential shot ideas are crazy.

funicular..yep, that does sound a bit funny.....heheehhee

So, everyone seems to have seen it and use it for a trial here. Just wondering how useful was it but when I know you can also motorized this rig, it becomes really interesting.
Just that the price tag is just way too heavy for now I guess. Will come back for it once have the budget.

Thanks everyone.

I too saw it at NAB...and it is beautiful if you have the 7K to spend. Every job has it's tools.

It's the kind of thing you'd rent as needed. I can't see any reason why anybody short of a multi-million dollar production company would even think about actually buying a piece of gear that expensive for occasional use.
