I sent the seller an email asking a few questions like why he was selling the lights, what condition they were in, and how old they are, and I'm waiting on a response. is this a pretty decent price for lighting like this? I don't know all that much about lighting, but I swear 1k and 2k arri's are way more than that - makes me think they're something wrong with them or they're really old and/or not in great condition.

*edit*
they sold so don't even worry about it.

If this were an ebay item, where shipping would be involved, I'd wonder if the fresnel lenses were cracked or even missing. They are conspicuously absent/hidden in all the photos. But since this is probably an item that would be picked up in person and not paid for until you actually saw the lights, my guess is that you'd be good to go.

Fresnel lamps are pretty basic as far as operation goes. The electricity goes in, heats up a filament, light is produced and that's about it. The only things I'd worry about besides the lens would be if the spot/flood adjustment worked and, again, this is something you could test out when picking up the lights.

It looks like a deal as long as the lenses are there. It's a little odd that the stands aren't included, it makes me suspicious about the source of the lights. Hopefully the person selling them has come upon them honestly.

alright, I'm sorry to keep bugging you all with these questions but like I said, I don't know all that much about lighting. how's this look for the price?

the package is priced really well, but I'm not sure about the quality of lights - for one, I've never seen/read anything about anyone using strobes for their keys and fills.

Is this for still photography or video? You can use a continuous lighting package for both but you can only use a strobe package for still photography. You can use any lighting for key and fill but only continuous lighting works for video.

it's for video. thanks for clearing that up - in the description I'm pretty sure it says the kit is viable for video, and that made no sense to me since they're strobe lights.
