Cracking Noise on Rycote WS 4 - only windshield

Hello everybody! First time here and already like it a lot.
I got problems with my Rycote WS 4 Windshield. Suspension and the whole rest of it works perfect, but for the last 1 1/2 years I mostly use it with M/S Mics - RSM 191 and sometimes with a 418 S. I rented my Rycote a while ago. Now there is a cracking, creaking noise (hard to explain) only on the sides while recording M/S.I would not disturb the hyper-cardoid. I took it apart and it is only about the windscreen/shield. I think somehow it is the glue - attachment between the round part and the slide thing. So what to do? Taken all the glue out and redo it or trying some teflon/silicon spray? The noise only appears in hard (stormy/heavy rain) conditions.Ok-the shield is moving -but what to do?Only the screen is about 210€.
Any ideas?

Talk to Rycote - they are very helpful and the windscreens can be repaired, I think.

Don't try and do it yourself.

i have this same problem, but mine was pretty battered when i got it, and has had a couple of squashes since. it doesnt hold up to heavy handling, i would never be so cruel as to make a boom op use it. was planning on just sucking it up and buying a new one, but i might look into rycote's repair options
