Hi All, I'm in the market for a new tripod and I had my sights on a Sacthler when I came across the CPM Geared head. I searched around for user experiences but it doesn't seem like there is too much info on out out there. Does anyone have any experience with it and / or thoughts on geared head vs fluid head?
Thanks

Disadvantages and advantages to both geared heads and fluidheads. I love geared heads, and I used to own two, now just one. Never used this one you mention, the CPM, and I can tell you the ones I typically use or own are larger and established brands. I'm talking about the real ones from old school. I currently own one that is the same model seen in many Stanley Kubrik BTS shots (it's english Moy version from the same period).

This one you linked to is very cheap in price (in comparison to what a standard geared head costs) and looks to be made for DSLR type cameras. Most geared heads, the big dogs, are for cameras of much much heavier weight.

Can't help you with that particular model, but professional geared heads are wonderful tools!
